My First Experience

As the ship arrived at the middle of the coastal waters of Siasi, Sulu, I was overwhelmed by the beautiful view all over the place.  The vastness of the blue sea was filled with gleaming clear waters that surround the two opposite mountains of the east and west.  The surface of the twin mountains was covered by green forest lush which was getting darker in color as dusk approached the sky.  A combination of pink and orange clouds dominates the heavens as the sun set.

After an hour of wondering the pulchritude sceneries, the ship had finally made its way to the port of Sulu.  To my surprise, we were not to exit at the main door of the ship.  Instead, we used a rope at the side of the ship to help us go down from the first deck of the ship to the pump boat.  Thank God it was only two meters high.

That was my first time to step on a pump boat.  The boat swiftly rocked as I dropped my weight onto it.  I struggled a bit but then I was helped by the man who was maneuvering the boat.  After I and my three relatives were seated on the boat, the man turned on the motor and drove us to the place where my relatives live.

As we sailed across the sea, the damp zephyr of the waters touched my face.  It has a smell of salt and fish with it.  The breeze cooled down and I began to shiver.  The wind was cold so I decided to put my jacket on.

I felt sleepy and exhausted so I leaned on the shoulder of my aunt.  It was been a long trip. 

My Golden Christmas!

I love christmas.  It brings back unforgettable memoirs of my childhood days.  As much as I appreciated my christmas gifts from Santa Claus when I was still in kindergarten, the feeling of joy and exitement on christmas season never vanished from my heart.  I can still remember when I played the role of Mama Mary in our school play in Kinder II.  That was such an easy role for me because I don't have a line in the script and all I have to do was to emote like I'm going to have a baby.  My teacher was very happy at our performance and she was impressed.  She hugged and kissed me on my cheeks after the small play.  Well, I guess I've done my part because I did it for the Baby Jesus Christ.

We celebrate christmas because this is when Jesus Christ was born to this world. Though we just have the date as an approximation. The reason that He came here is for the fulfillment of the purpose of the heavenly Father.  Jesus has become our Messiah and only Savior when He sacrificed His life at the cross.  He came down to give as the gift of salvation to save us from sins.  Jesus gave His own life for us sinners. 

Jesus Christ gives us the spirit of joy not only this christmas season but all throughout the year.   It is a gift.  There is peace when we have joy.  Joy results from being contented of the things we have today.  God have given us our family and friends, just enough to thank Him for that golden treasure.  Material treasures like wealth and power are nothing compared to the eternal tresures from God, knowledge, wisdom, and understanding.  The celebration of Christmas eve is not measured by how much food and presents we prepared on our tables, but rather by weighing sincere hearts of gratitude.  Even in simple dishes, we can still be joyful at our Noche Buena as long as we made Jesus Christ the center of our celebration together with our family.

We are blessed because we know Christ Jesus.  Because we received Him as our Lord and Savior, we reflect ourselves much like Him.  We tend to show campassion not just in ourselves but for others, to the people around us.  In all the circumstances and challeges that brought pain into our lives, we surpassed it becuase He was always there to strengthen us and keep us strong even if we fall. 

Christmas season is a time for giving and sharing.  We share and spread the blessings we receive from God every moment of our lives.  God gave us all of those.  He gave us hope.  And now is the right time to share and extend that LOVE to EVERYBODY.

Writing in the English language

I started studying the English language when I entered my kindergarten school at the age of four. From correct emphasis of consonant and vowel sounds and proper pronunciation of words, to the formation of complete sentences in making statements, I can say that English has already been a part of my life. It's been there, like the food I eat everyday.
Yet the feeling of reluctance and doubt are still over me somehow. Every time a teacher asks me to write a composition about a certain topic, I have hesitations that I myself could not explain. There's a part of me that says I can do it even better now since I already entered my tertiary education. But the contradicting part discourages me to do it because I simply don't have the gift.
Fear and low self-esteem. Those are some of the negative notions that I am fighting right now. So pessimistic that sometimes made me think of giving up.
NO. I should not, because if some people can, then why couldn't I?
Now, I think writing is just a piece of the big challenges ahead. So instead of running away from it, why not face the challenge and develop it? Because after all, I am the one who can have greater benefits to that self endeavor. Courage and perseverance are the only weapons to win the game!
